Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats

The simple truth is that most people are either “dog people” or “cat people.” Even if they own a few of each, they may feel like they prefer to spend time with one over the other.

If you aren’t sure if you are one over the other, here are some reasons why dogs are better than cats!

  • Dogs are man’s best friend (and for good reason). Dogs have been companions for thousands of years and will continue to do so for years to come. They want nothing more than to love us and spend time with us.
  • No matter what you are looking for, you can find a dog to suit you and your lifestyle. You can choose a dog that is big or small. Some prefer the farm lifestyle, while others are happy staying inside all of the time. If you are active, you can get a dog that prefers to be on the move. If you want a dog to crash on the couch with you, there are many dogs that would prefer that.
  • When it comes to cats, they are pretty much all the same. Though some have longer hair, most cats are domestic short haired cats. They prefer to do their own thing, and may only come to you when they want food!
  • Dogs can protect their families. Most dogs will bark and let you know when someone is at your door. They are doing it to protect you and warn you. Even if your dog isn’t scary, their bark may scare someone away.
  • Training dogs is easier than training cats. In fact, many people say that cats can’t be trained at all! Cats do what they want, when they want to, without caring about what we are thinking.
  • Even better, many dogs enjoy this time with you. Training sessions can be a great way to spend time together. Your dog will do almost anything to make you happy. Many dogs are also easily trained with food.
  • Dogs just want to play! Most dogs love to play. You can throw them a ball or frisbee. Many enjoy tug-of-war and a good game of chase.
  • If you have more than one dog, you may enjoy watching them play together. If you don’t, you may want to set up some “play dates” where multiple dogs can have fun and burn off some steam!
  • If you need to lose weight (or just looking for a good way to stay healthy), a dog might be a good excuse. Your dog will need to go outside Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats a few times a day. Even if you have a fencedin backyard, you are probably going to take your dog for a walk every day to help him or her stay fit. These daily walks may even help you lose some of your extra weight!

  • Unlike cats, dogs go to the bathroom outside. Cats can really stink up the house if you don’t clean litter boxes often. Many people hate cleaning out litter boxes. Lucky for dog owners, they go outside!
  • Though you should pick up their stools for health reasons, you aren’t responsible for cleaning up their urine.
  • Dogs aren’t just pets! There are many dogs who have important jobs to do. Farm dogs can be bred to protect livestock. Others can help farmers herd their livestock from one place to another.
  • There are dogs who work alongside our police and military. Search and rescue dogs can help find lost humans due to their sense of smell. Many handicapped people use service dogs to help them in their daily lives.
  • Dogs are great companions. They have been by our sides for thousands of years, and will be for years to come. Dogs just love us and want to spend as much time with us as possible! They are easily trained because they just want to please us.
  • Even better, there are so many options when it comes to finding a dog. There are many different breeds, so you will be able to find one that fits into your lifestyle. If you are gone a lot, you are going to want a smaller dog who may not need as much exercise as a larger one. That being said, dogs love to play and you can find a lot of enjoyment in them. They may even help you stay healthy, by taking them for regular walks!
